More than a place to lay your head, CIVILIAN brings together New York City’s arts and cultural communities. Over 350 pieces of art—including sketches, models, photos, and costume pieces—can be found throughout our halls and spaces, representing 100 years of Broadway history. We believe luxury should be for everyone, and we believe art should be too. We’re unapologetic about our support and love for the creative communities that surround us, and it is part of our mission to share their stories with you.
If you’re not into Broadway, you’ll have plenty to enjoy and explore at CIVILIAN. If you’re into Broadway, you’ll have plenty to admire too. In the second-floor lounge, a custom brass and glass vitrine displays scenic models of current productions on Broadway. Pieces include set models of Hadestown designed by Rachel Hauck, Slave Play by Clint Ramos, and Moulin Rouge by Derek McLane. Photographs of Broadway hits frame the bar, while alcoves feature historic photographs of the Stage Door Canteen and Stage Women’s War Relief posters.
